Patriot Flight Inc. Announces Mission #32: A Call for Veterans, Guardians, and Critical Community Support

ALBANY, NY — Sean S. Lyons, President of Patriot Flight Inc., is proud to announce Mission #32, scheduled for October 7, 2026. This one-day, all-expense-paid “Honor Flight” will transport local veterans from NYS Capital Region to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice.

While the mission is set, the organization faces a significant hurdle: a $40,000 funding gap and a need for veterans and volunteers to fill the ranks.

The Mission: A Debt of Gratitude

Patriot Flight Inc., a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer nonprofit and member of the National Honor Flight Network, provides this trip at no cost to the veteran. For many who served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, this journey represents the “Welcome Home” they never received.

“Our goal is to ensure our Hometown Heroes receive the honor they earned decades ago,” said Sean S. Lyons. “But to make Mission #32 a reality, we need the community to stand behind us. We are currently short about $40,000 of the $60,000 required to fund the flight.”

A Call to Action: How the Community Can Help

Patriot Flight Inc. is urgently seeking support in three key areas:

  • Donations: Contributions are tax-deductible and go directly toward the cost of the aircraft, meals, and ground transportation. Staff and Guardians pay a fee
  • Veterans: There are 65 openings for veterans. Top priority is given to WWII survivors and any veteran facing a terminal illness, followed by Korean and Vietnam War veterans.
  • Guardians: Roughly 40 escorts are needed to accompany our heroes, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the day. We ask $450 donation fee

Serving Our Region

Patriot Flight Inc. serves veterans across seven New York counties—Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Greene, Washington, and Columbia—as well as neighboring areas in Vermont and Massachusetts.

The “Welcome Home” Celebration

The community is invited to Albany International Airport on the evening of October 7th to participate in a massive “Welcome Home” rally. Patriot Flight encourages families, students, and patriotic citizens to bring flags and handmade signs to cheer for the veterans as they return from their day of reflection.
