Patriot Flight Inc. is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America’s veterans. As a member hub of the National Honor Flight Network, we escort local veterans to Washington, D.C., for an all-expense-paid day of reflection and honor at the memorials built in their tribute.

The Capital Region’s Dedicated Honor Flight Hub

Capital District Patriot Flight Inc. is the ONLY Honor Flight hub dedicated exclusively to serving veterans in the New York State Capital Region.

While neighboring Honor Flight hubs from other regions utilize Albany International Airport, Patriot Flight Inc. is the local organization directly funding and organizing flights specifically for veterans residing in our home region. We proudly serve seven Capital Region counties—Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Greene, Washington, and Columbia—as well as neighboring communities in Vermont and Massachusetts.

Now Accepting Applications for Post-Vietnam and Desert Shield/Storm Veterans!

In alignment with new guidance from the National Honor Flight Network and the upcoming dedication of the National Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial in Washington, D.C., we are excited to announce an expansion of veteran eligibility.

We are now officially accepting applications from veterans who served during:

  • Post-Vietnam Peacetime Service: May 8, 1975 – August 1, 1990

  • Operation Desert Shield: August 2, 1990 – January 16, 1991

  • Operation Desert Storm: January 17, 1991 – July 31, 1991

Applications for these newly added eras will be processed in the order received, with flight scheduling targeted to begin in 2027.

Our Priority Order for Flights

While we are thrilled to expand eligibility, our primary mission and seat allocation structure remain unchanged to protect our most senior heroes:

  1. Priority Tier 1: World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans, as well as any veteran of any era diagnosed with a terminal illness. (Top priority for all flight seats).

  2. Priority Tier 2: Post-Vietnam peacetime, Operation Desert Shield, and Operation Desert Storm veterans.

How You Can Help

  • Apply as a Veteran: If you or a loved one served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the post-Vietnam era, or Desert Shield/Storm, submit a veteran application using the Application tab above. The trip is provided at zero cost to the veteran.

  • Become a Guardian: Escort and assist a veteran during their unforgettable day in Washington, D.C.

  • Donate to Our Missions: Each flight costs approximately $60,000. Every dollar contributed stays right here in the Capital Region to send our local heroes to D.C.
